graduation from the New College Oxford University in the French and Russian literature.
Kate debuted from the T.V film based on the World War 2 One Against the Wind which came in 1991, when she was in her college. Her big break came in Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (1993).
Kate worked in Haunted (1995) and also in the 1996 TV film version of Jane Austen’s Emma. After this she appeared in the low-profile films like Shooting Fish and The Last Days of Disco, in the year 1998. Kate’s first big American film, Brokedown Palace (1999), was not a big commercial success. But Soon she played the female lead in the movie Pearl Harbor in the year 2001. The film came out to be a huge hit and earned her great respect. After that Kate worked in films like Serendipity (2001), Underworld (2003) and Van Helsing (2004) that got the mixed reviews. In 2005, she played Ava Gardner in Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator, that earned her the much needed fame and respect. In January 2006, Beckinsale reappeared in Underworld: Evolution, as a vampire.
